(Historical Omens Painting)
One of the very important archaeological discoveries that documented many historical events and the tablet of omens was a tablet found in the library of Ashurbanipal dating back to the seventh century BC.
The tablet included a group of military and civil events dating back to the kings of the Akkadian dynasty (2334-2154 BC). Due to the historical importance and pride of the Assyrian kings in the heritage and glories of their Akkadian ancestors, they copied and preserved these achievements and events on tablets.
It also contained important historical references to the military conquests carried out by Sargon of Akkad in the countries of Amurru and Elam, as well as his suppression of revolutions and rebellions in his homeland of Akkad and in the city of Kazallu. There were also references to his building his royal palace.
Among other historical tidings of historical importance is the mention of King Naram-Sin and his ability to conquer Makan/Magan, as well as his suppression of revolts that occurred in cities belonging to the Akkadian Empire. Board height 16 cm, width 10 cm, thickness 2.5 cm.
