One of the Amazigh religious scholars is the jurist Al-Waghlisi 12717
He is Abu Zaid Abd al-Rahman bin Ahmad bin Abdullah al-Waghlisi al-Bajaoui al-Zawawi, the fundamentalist jurist, hadith scholar, and mufti interpreter. He was born in the throne of Ath and Ghallis near Sidi Aish, south of Bejaia, in the year 1303 and died in the year 1384 AD.
He was the leader of the people of his time in the eighth century AH and the uniqueness of his era and his time, the sheikh of the community at the Ain Berber Mosque in the Kasbah of Bejaia.
He took with his colleague, “Mohammed bin Abdul Samad Al-Machdali.”

The Sufi jurist Abu Zaid Abd al-Rahman al-Wughlisi is considered one of the pillars of cultural and intellectual life in Bejaia and the author of the book “Jurisprudential Rules,” also known as “Al-Wughlisiyyah,” which reflects his approach to jurisprudence and Sufism. Al-Waghlisi is an introduction to the jurisprudence of worship, in which Al-Waghlisi limited himself to the well-known saying according to the doctrine of Imam Malik, avoided delving into controversial issues, and tended to combine the jurisprudence of worship with the secrets of its rulings, focusing on the spiritual aspect, addressing the heart and mind to achieve the moral perfection of the human being in the manner of Sufism. Thus, he presented a model in which he combined Jurisprudence and Sufism, declaring his Sufi method based on struggle without denying the mind, which he considers a means of contemplation, but he considers the realization of divine truths to be the prerogative of the heart, not the mind. Thus, he was able to integrate Sufism into the Maliki Sunni system and keep it within Sharia law by practicing it within the jurisprudence of worship.
