The people of the land of the master of reeds
The people of the land of the master of reeds 1-733
The term Sumerians in the Akkadian language means “the people of the land of the master of reeds,” that is, those who live in the areas of reeds and papyrus located in areas called the marshes in southern Iraq.
Archaeologist Henry Field says, "The inhabitants of the marshes are the direct descendants of the Sumerians."
As Assyriologist Dr. Taha Baqir: The Sumerians never came from outside the borders of the Mesopotamia region
As the archaeologist Sittin Lloyd said: The inhabitants of the marshes in southern Iraq, their lives, culture, and customs resemble the life of the Sumerians, and that the beautiful marshes’ hostels and the Sumerian reed house, all built of reeds and clay, are very close to what represents the original structures of the Sumerian temples in the fourth millennium BC.
The Sumerians were also the first to build tall buildings called ziggurats, and they were the first to establish the sexteal system, and the first to establish a system of irrigation, agriculture, art, and architecture, and the first written script in history was the Sumerian cuneiform script written on clay tablets. They had countless accomplishments and glories.
