The people of Mesopotamia were in love with music and still are, and it was an essential aspect of their enjoyment, art, and beauty. Mesopotamian sculptures showed the various musical instruments that were used in Mesopotamia.
String, drum, and wind instruments were well known, and the first type contained a quadrilateral harp. This instrument was played while walking, and there was also a portable lyre with a leather-covered speaker.
Drumming was performed on different types, from portable drums to drums of wide dimensions.
The wind instruments were composed of types of single or double flutes, as well as without flutes.
On a tablet depicting the capture of Medictu in Elam, we see the inhabitants of the city marching in processions in front of the conquerors, the musicians in the foreground and the inhabitants behind them, clapping to the sounds of the music.
