The international carnival "Bilmaoun" toured the most important streets of the city of Agadir yesterday evening, Wednesday, in order to highlight the diversity and richness of the Amazigh heritage.
The second edition of this parade featured the participation of carnival groups representing some African countries, who presented artistic performances with local associations and the city’s youth.
Throughout this festive show, according to the Moroccan News Agency, young talents demonstrated their creative potential in terms of disguise, masks used and artistic performance, in front of many fans of this heritage rooted in the Souss-Massa region.
In an atmosphere full of enthusiasm, the festival gave the audience the opportunity to enjoy the masquerade shows in which these young men usually use the skins of sheep, goats and cows, in addition to juggling and folkloric dances to the rhythms of traditional and popular music.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Khalid Qaidi, from the organizing committee of this carnival, said that this event witnessed the participation of more than 1,500 young people from the Souss-Massa region, in addition to the presence of representatives from Benin, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Togo, adding that this celebration contributes to revitalizing the tourism movement and the attractiveness of the city of rebirth.
In addition to the carnival, the programme of this cultural event included the organisation of a photographic exhibition about “Bilmaoun”, as well as an international symposium on the carnival and its role in enhancing the city’s attractiveness, which saw the participation of national and international experts in the field.
According to the organizers, this event is part of the Agadir Collective Action Plan, which aims to promote the Amazigh cultural heritage that forms the identity of the city of Agadir, and make it the capital of Amazigh culture.
The Agadir International Carnival "Bilmaoun" is the culmination of all the celebrations organized in the various provinces and prefectures of the Souss-Massa region throughout the days of Eid al-Adha.

It is worth noting that this event is organized by the urban community of Agadir in partnership with the Souss-Massa Regional Council and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, and managed by the Souss-Massa Center for Cultural Development.
