The first corrupt king recorded in history
He is King Lugal-anda, king of Lagash
!His father, the High Priest of Lagash, was able to install him as king of the country in the 24th century BC, and his reign witnessed corruption, bribery, and control over property that the country or people had never known before
Until the corrupt and influential people began to share their livelihood with the vegetable sellers and fishermen, and it reached the point that the dead could not be buried unless his family paid a bribe. He confiscated vast lands and annexed them to his possessions.
!Because birds of a feather flock together, Lugalanda married Paranamtara, who became the first lady of Lagash
His wife did not leave behind anything that would bring her profit without participating in it, from trading slaves to milk, copper, silver, sheep, and clothing, in addition to land trading. She also opened offices for herself in Dilmun to import copper. It sold its goods to other Sumerian cities.
But Mesopotamia, the country of freedom and living with dignity, faced this miserable situation, so the Sumerian reformer Urcagina revolted against the corrupt king Lugal-Anda, deposed him from the throne, and fought the corrupt, issuing a set of reforms that are considered the first social and legal reforms known to history.
The word freedom appeared for the first time in history, from the land of Mesopotamia!
