On the other hand, these wasps cannot live without fig trees, as they deposit their larvae inside the fruit, and this relationship is known as coexistence or mutual benefit. However, many of the females of these wasps die inside the fruit, as they are often unable to emerge from among the flowers, and they absorb them. The fruit benefits from the proteins found in the insect.
It is reassuring to many that at the present time the vast majority of producers of this fruit no longer need the work of wasps, as most of the fig varieties in the markets are non-genetic and do not need the work of these wasps...
