Algeria, is the largest country in Africa, the flora and fauna of this beautiful country is undoubtedly one of the most unique countries on the African continent. This is why Algeria has created 11 beautiful national parks to best ensure the protection of representative samples of the different landscapes, forests, flora and fauna that make up the diversity of the country.
These 11 parks are home to impressive plants, unique in their diversity and rarity. There are a large number of mammals and many types of birds, they are accompanied by anomalous rock formations, historical sites, ruins and rock carvings. Each park has its particularity. Each national park is priceless.
Ahaggar National Park

The fabulous national narc of Ahaggar is located on the Hoggar massif and is geographically part of the capital of Ahaggar, Tamanrasset. It was declared a national park in 1987 and was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1988. Ahaggar Park covers an area of 450,000 square kilometers and is home to fascinating cultural and natural heritage. It contains archaeological sites from 600,000 to 1 million years ago. A real open-air museum.
Belezma National Park

Belezma National Park is located in Batna. This beautiful park was classified as a national park in 1984. The park occupies an area of 26,250 hectares, is a mountain, with rugged terrain, steep slopes and dense vegetation. Belezma Park marks the beginning of the Aurès Algeria block.

The Chréa natural park covers an area of 26,000 hectares. It is located about 50 kilometers southwest of Algiers in the center of the Blidean Atlas. Chréa Park was classified as a national park in 1983. In 2002, this park was recognized as a world biosphere reserve. Chréa Park has at least 1200 species of flora and fauna, including cedar, cork oak, Aleppo pine and holm oak.
Djurdjura National Park

Djurdjura National Park is located in the northeast of the very mountainous region of Algeria between the two wilayas of Bouira and Tizi-Ouzou. It is an atypical park, covering an area of 18,500 hectares. Its Mediterranean and continental climate makes it one of the richest mountain biomes. It has no less than 600 species of plants.
El Kala National Park

El Kala National Park is located in the northeast of Algeria. This beautiful natural space was classified as a national park by UNESCO in 1983 and a world biosphere reserve in 1990. This beautiful park covers an area of 76,438 ha, El Kala National Park is considered one of the largest national parks in the country and the richest in northern Algeria. This paradise includes several natural landscapes as well as the most diversified fauna and flora of all Algeria.
Gouraya National Park

Gouraya National Park is located on the east coast of Algeria in Béjaia. The park covers an area of 2080 hectares and presents an extraordinary archaeological and aesthetic richness, in particular the summit of the mountain of the monkeys, the fortress of the gurayas, the promenade of Cap Carbon and the marvelous cliffs. This park was recognized as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2014.
Tassili n'Ajjer National Park

Tassili n'Ajjer National Park is located in the Tassili n'Ajjer block of Djanet in the Wilaya, Illizi, in southeastern Algeria. Due to the park's enormous wealth, especially the famous rock carvings and paintings, the Tassili was classified as a national park in 1972. The park was later listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, and was listed as reserve of humanity and the biosphere in 1986.
Taza National Park

Taza National Park is located in the forest plot of Guerrouche near Jijel in northeastern Algeria. The park covers an area of 3807 hectares and is considered unique in the Mediterranean basin due to its diversity. Taza National Park is made up of low altitude mountainous areas. Its highest point is Kountet El Kern (Kountet El Kern) at 1121 meters above sea level. Taza Park has been classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO since 2004.
Théniet El Had National Park

The Théniet El-Had National Park is located in the northwest of Algeria in the willaya of Tissemsilt. It covers an area of 3425 hectares, of which 2968 hectares are covered with vegetation. Its flora mainly includes Atlas oak, holm oak, cork oak and zen oak.
Tlemcen National Park

Classified as a national park in 1993, the national park of the city of Tlemcen is located in the northwest of Algeria. It occupies an area of 8225 hectares, rich in biodiversity, and a wide variety of animals and plants. The park also has many historical attractions, such as the ruins of Mansoura, and natural sites such as the legendary El Ourit waterfall.
Babors National Park

The last park on our list is that of Babor-Tababort National Park, which contains an ecosystem very rich in animal and plant species over a total area of 23,656 hectares, which covers all three wilayas: Sétif (11,909 ha ), Béjaïa (7,478 ha) and Jijel (4,269 ha).
The Babors National Park extends to the wild expanses of the following 3 willayas: Sétif, Béjaïa and Jijel. Babors National Park has just been classified as a protected area in the category of national parks in April 2019.
According to bulletin n° 30, the Babor-Tababort National Park now hides a very rich ecosystem of plant and animal species.
