The Secretary General of the High Prefecture of Tamazight in Algeria, Hachemi Asad, announced the forthcoming organization of national sessions on the teaching of Tamazight.
Asad said in his intervention on the airwaves of the third channel of Algerian radio, as reported by the Algerian press agency, that the objective of these sessions lies in "the call for the consolidation of education Amazigh given the great importance that Algeria attaches to this issue.
The speaker underlined that the organization of these sessions would allow "the elaboration of a clear sheet for the control of the teaching of Amazigh and its generalization to include the primary stage at the national level".
He also added, "This is a proposal for the entire national educational family in order to take care of the pedagogical problems that still exist and which affect the future of the Amazigh language", stressing the need "to evaluate the laboratories of this matter". , review the volume allocated to the teaching of this language and find ways of motivating parents to encourage their children to study it.
Assad, who called for the generalization of the teaching of Tamazight, considers that it is "necessary" to strengthen school curricula by "promoting Tamazight in all its linguistic diversity".
The intervention also called for the adaptation of certain laws relating to the sector to the constitution, stressing "the need to adapt certain existing legal texts and procedures to the decisions taken by the President of the Republic", referring, for example, to the orientations of the law on civic education.
On the other hand, Assad considered that the teaching of Tamazight has made "remarkable progress", in particular with "the opening of university institutes in many states of the country", welcoming the creation of the President's Award of Excellence. for the Amazigh language and culture.
The first official of the high Amazigh governorate also noted the provisions included in the 2020 constitution, which consecrate Tamazight as the national language, considering that it is an "important achievement for new Algeria".
