The Amgar Association in Khenifra celebrates the anniversary of the “Battle of Lahri” in a meeting on collective memory as a pillar of development
Like every year, the “Amgar Association for Culture and Development”, in Khenifra, on the morning of Sunday, November 20, 2022, celebrated the 108th anniversary of the immortal battle of Al-Hari. The distinguished event in the history of Xian in particular, and the collective memory of the country in general, the association took the initiative to invite the academic specialist in the history of the resistance, Dr. Idris Akboush, who had moved from the city of Azrou to participate and enrich the meeting.
After a welcoming speech, in which the conductor singled out the attendees who made pilgrimages to the village of Al-Hari, the spatial framework in which the historical battle took place, which is rooted in the minds of the Zayani man in particular, and the Amazigh man in general, the Amghar Association opened the work of the meeting with a speech welcoming all the fighters, both men and women, and the general guests who honored it. attendees, while noting the importance of the event and its historical, political and socio-cultural extensions.
For his part, Dr. Idris Akboush stopped at the objective and subjective justifications that made him respond to Amghar’s call, highlighting that “the subject of memory, especially in its connection with the subject of development, involves risks and slippages that require arming ourselves with a rigorous scientific methodology, and knowledge of complementary disciplines such as sociology, anthropology and geography.” This is not easy for the specialized researcher, given the time cost and various preoccupations.
In the same context, Dr. Akboush dealt, with presentation and analysis, with the course of the Battle of Lahri, and the lessons learned from it, and how “the land issue for Imazighen is a matter of life or death, which made them spare their blood in order to liberate it from the grip of brutal French colonialism,” drawing attention to “The value of the union between the Amazigh tribes, as despite all the conflicts, including natural ones, which reflect the vitality and dynamism of the tribal body, everyone unites and closes ranks whenever it comes to external danger, in order to defend the mother “the land” from which the Amazigh person derives his existence.”
After that, Dr. Akboush stopped at the personality of Muha Ahmo, the leader of the Zayani resistance, and one of its prominent aspects, highlighting that the leader had “political acumen and intelligence that he was able to invest in luring the enemy and defeating him,” unlike many historical writings that detract from the value of this type of Resistance, as a limited horizon, Dr. Akboush refuted this saying, stressing that Mohi Ahmo "was characterized by an exceptional sense of patriotism and a comprehensive vision of the liberation of the country as a whole."
In contrast to this historical and cultural richness that characterizes the Zayyan tribes, the current misery of this region indicates that the policy followed by those in charge of public affairs is a selective policy that does not proceed from the equal value of the national sphere, thus enshrining the policy enacted by the colonial authorities, before they The lecturer discusses ways to invest collective memory in achieving development, highlighting that the issue is not as simple as we imagine, especially in the field of practice in view of the Moroccan political and socio-cultural reality, which makes preserving memory and valuing heritage its last bets.
The meeting was marked by opening the door to discussion, as the attendees expressed a high level of awareness of the importance of memory in reunification and building a common future, denouncing the incomprehensible neglect by the state with this tangible and symbolic heritage that abounds in the region, at a time when local memory with all its components is considered In most developed countries and societies, it is a real treasure that it invests in proving its being and existence in light of a globalized world in which a single culture creeps on local particularities that run deep in history.
