It is considered incitement to hatred and discrimination.
Parliamentarian for the Party of Progress and Socialism, Saeed Edbeali, addressed a written question to the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed El Mahdi Bensaïd, about the seriousness of the statements made by the director of the organizing committee for the “Moulay Abdallah Amghar” season in El Jadida province.
In his question, the parliamentarian explained that the statements attributed to the director of the “Amghar Season” during a press conference, in which he said that he “does not speak Amazigh,” and that “people will throw stones at the Amazigh bands in the festival if they participate.” It is considered "provocative speech to the feelings of millions of Moroccans who are proud of their authentic Moroccan identity, including many Moroccan art groups, as well as to the audience of Moulay Abdallah's season, who is passionate about Moroccan Amazigh art."
Adbeali said, “Statements of this level of danger, which are considered incitement to hatred, discrimination, violence and chaos, and strike in depth the unity of the diverse and cohesive Moroccan identity, should not go unnoticed, and require the opening of an immediate investigation, accountability of a sober person, and the arrangement of legal effects on that, with obliging him to explain his irresponsible words, and to apologize to the Moroccan people.”
The parliamentarian asked about “the measures that the ministry will take to investigate what was attributed to the dangerous words attributed to the director of the organization organizing the season of Moulay Abdullah Amghar in El Jadida, and the nature of the procedures that the ministry will adopt to arrange the legal effects on this catastrophe.”
