The Azawadi Army announced this evening, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, that it had launched a second pre-emptive operation against “the Malian Army and Wagner terrorists” stationed in the Liri region of the state of Timbuktu, noting that “the specific objectives of this operation were achieved in accordance with the plan drawn up by the General Staff of the Azawadi National Army.” The statement issued by the Media and Communications Cell for Military Affairs in Azawad revealed the general outcome of the attack, which was as follows:

Enemy side:
- Complete control over the two bases.
- 35 members of the Malian terrorist armed forces were killed during the battle and dozens were wounded.
- All the armored vehicles in the place were dismantled and their valid equipment removed before they were completely destroyed.
The two warplanes attacked by Fama were put out of service by the anti-aircraft units of the Azawadi National Army (Air Defense Azawadi). One of them was shot down in Lira, and the second was hit after attempting an emergency landing and then fell 7 kilometers southeast of the place. The first pilot was not found, it is possible that he died there, and the second pilot was not found at the scene either.
- A number of cars in good condition were seized.
- A large amount of weapons, ammunition and other logistical equipment were seized.
- 6 military prisoners, some of whom will soon be handed over to the competent independent bodies for health reasons.

On our side, there were 8 martyrs and 12 wounded.
The objectives set for this operation were achieved according to the plan drawn up by the General Staff of the Azawad National Army.
The last of our combing and investigation units left the Lira area and its environs yesterday, September 18, at midday. There is no sign of the return of the Malian terrorist forces.
No civilian deaths were recorded and no damage to private property was reported.
