Formerly it was the first festival of the year during peasant times. We went out into the fields in procession, big and small women and men. A young teenager is appointed to lead the new pair of oxen for the first time, under the supervision of an old man from the village, he traces furrows while saying kind words in Kabyle to the two animals. After one hour of plowing, the elderly people judged that Timtirt was good (surface plowed in one hour). We then indulged in singing and dancing.
The picnic was a disparate buffet: Carob powder in olive oil, honeyed dried figs, pomegranates, black olives, wheat pancakes, hard-boiled eggs, autumn fruits, wild berries (azeroles, jujubes, etc.). . we sang for Anzar God of rain and for all the other natural divinities of the Amazighs, Lilou, Ifrou, Haddaz, and other muse goddesses of the Yemma-s n Ddunit, the first mother of the world...
