What is the real reason for the presence of a “hole” in the ballpoint pen cap? Here is the secret 1----z10
A video explaining why ballpoint pens have a small hole in the top of the cap has captured the attention of thousands online.
In the short clip, he said that most people think it's about ink, but the real reason is "much more important than that," according to the British newspaper "Daily Mail."
“Pen companies actually have to add these little holes at the top of the cap,” Zack said.
He added: "This opening allows airflow if the cap gets stuck in someone's throat."
The video went on to show an X-ray of the skeleton and how the design of the lid could allow air to pass through the throat if someone swallowed it.
Bic, the most famous company that manufactures ballpoint pens, confirmed the reason for the design of the cap, in the Frequently Asked Questions section on the company’s website.

The company's website explains, "The reason there is a hole in some pens is to prevent the cap from completely blocking the airway if it is accidentally inhaled."
The website added: “This is required by international safety standards, except in cases where the lid is considered too large to pose a suffocation risk.”
