Friction and cultural influence
After their occupation of the land of Babylon and Assyria, the land of ancient Iraq, the ancient Persians were influenced by its civilization and culture, and they took from it many aspects of civilization, urbanization, and sophistication, such as writing, sculpture, and architecture:
1_ The Persian god Ahura Mazda has a winged form, the same as the Assyrian god Ashur.
2_ The ancient Persian writing is derived from Sumerian and Akkadian cuneiform, both in its Babylonian and Assyrian parts, and even Middle Persian is derived from Semitic Aramaic, which was written in Iraq, and modern Persian is derived from Arabic.
3_ The ancient Persian military uniform is taken from the Assyrian military uniform.
4_ The Elamite ziggurat in Persia, especially (the ziggurat of Jugha Zanbil), is similar to the Sumerian ziggurat of Ur and is greatly influenced by it, but it is developed from it.
5_ The Feast of Nowruz is older than the Persians themselves, and its first celebration recorded in history was in ancient Iraq in Babylon. It is called the Feast of Akitu, meaning the Feast of Being and Existence, since the Babylonian year begins in April every year and the date of the Spring Feast approaches March 21.
6_ Even Persian architectural art and other art throughout the ages was influenced or borrowed from ancient Iraqi art in terms of mosaics and others, such as the Persian griffin (imaginary creatures) similar to the idea of the Babylonian Mishkhus, the Assyrian winged bull, and others.
7_ Add that the Persian language contains a lot of Sumerian, Aramaic, and Arabic vocabulary, to the point that 60% of its words are Arabic. Ibn Manzur mentioned in Lisan al-Arab and other dictionaries many Persian words in Arabic, while it was found that they are of Aramaic or Sumerian (Iraqi-Mesopotamian) origin. old).
