Discovery confirms the second oldest human population
Discovery confirms the second oldest human population 1--348
Archaeologists have discovered carved stone tools dating back 2.4 million years at the site of Ain Boucherit in the Setif region of Algeria, which are much older than those found in this region so far. It appears that the discovered stones were used as cutting tools, as the remains of dismembered bones were found next to them. They are made of limestone and carved flint, and they look very similar to those that have been found so far, mainly in East Africa.
Discovery confirms the second oldest human population 13-708
This exceptional discovery dates back to 2006, when Mohamed Sahnouni, the main supervisor of this new study and an archaeologist at the Spanish National Center for Research on Human Evolution, found some interesting artifacts at the site of Ain Boucharit in northeastern Algeria near the city of El Eulma.

This discovery makes this Algerian site the second oldest site in Africa after the Gona site in Ethiopia - “Gona, Ethiopia”.
