The world's first cruise ship 11064
"Syracuse", "the first cruise ship in the world" was designed by Archimedes, the Greek mathematician, and it is the largest ship in ancient times. It was built in 240 BC and was commissioned by Geron II, King of Syracuse.
They are not unlike modern cruise ships in form and function.
It is about 110 meters long. It was capable of carrying a maximum weight of 1,000 tons, 400 soldiers and 100 passengers in specific cabins. The ship contained a library, toilets, trees, and even a temple dedicated to Aphrodite.

The world's first cruise ship* was built by the ancient Greek Archimedes.
Archimedes (287-212 BC) was a Greek mathematician and mechanical engineer, and a pioneer in both fields, many centuries ahead of his contemporaries.
In Sicily, under the rule of King Hiero II of Syracuse

(270 – 215 BC) A ship of amazing proportions was built. The materials used to build this giant boat are equivalent to the materials used to make 60 ordinary ships. Moreover, that ship was supposed to leave the safe coastal lanes and cross the Mediterranean Sea. The ship was given a name - Syracuse - and represented what we might call “the first ship of antiquity.”
