Uganda 🇺🇬 is a landlocked country located in Africa on the edge of the Equator, bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Beginning in 1894, the United Kingdom ruled the region as a protectorate, and established an administrative law across the territory. Uganda gained independence from the United Kingdom on October 9, 1962. The period since then has been marked by violent conflicts, including an eight-year military dictatorship led by Idi Amin.
Most of the country's territory is highlands, with an average altitude of 1,100 metres. At 5,109 metres, Margarita Peak is the highest point in the country, located on the Rwenzori Mountains in the west, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.
The country is home to several famous African lakes, including Lake Victoria, Lake Edward, Lake Albert and Lake Kyoga.
Most of its lands are fertile and well irrigated by rivers. The Victoria Nile originates in Lake Victoria and flows through Ripon Falls, Lake Kyoga and Murchison Falls to reach Lake Albert. From there, the Albert River continues, eventually contributing to the majestic White Nile.
Uganda is a land of mountain gorillas, Nile perch, and beautiful lakes.
The inhabitants of Uganda were a gathering and gathering people until 1700-2300 years ago. The Bantu-speaking population, which was most likely from central Africa, migrated to the southern parts of the country.

According to oral tradition and archaeological studies, the Kitara Empire covered a significant portion of the Great Lakes region, from the northern lakes Albert and Kyoga to the southern lakes Victoria and Tanganyika. Bunyoro Kitara is claimed to be a forerunner of the Toro, Ankole and Busoga kingdoms.
Some Luo conquered the Bunyoro region and assimilated with the Bantu community there, establishing the Babito dynasty of the current Omukama (ruler) of Bunyoro Kitara.
