Tripoli.. A meeting that brings together the global Amazigh assembly in the Supreme Council of the Amazighs of Libya
On Tuesday evening, June 21, in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, a delegation from the Amazigh World Assembly, including the head of the Amazigh international organization, Rachid Rakha, and the head of the Morocco branch of the same organization, Amina Ibn Al-Sheikh, met with the head of the Supreme Council of the Amazighs of Libya, Al-Hadi Barqiq and his deputy, Walid Qaradah.
The two parties discussed topics related to the Amazigh issue in Libya after the revolution against the former anti-Amazigh regime, the constraints and challenges facing the Amazigh in Libya, in light of the demands for recognition of Amazigh rights in the Libyan constitution, as well as the reality of Amazigh in Morocco after its demarcation in the July 2011 constitution.
The members of the Amazigh World Assembly renewed their support for the Supreme Council of the Amazighs of Libya in their endeavors to recognize the rights of the Amazighs in the new Libya, and to support all initiatives taken by the Council in the context of its continuous advocacy on the Amazigh cause.
The head of the Amazigh body, Amina Ibn Al-Sheikh, presented a gift consisting of a “rug” bearing the Berber letters “Tifinagh” to the President and Vice President of the Council as a token of friendship and solidarity.
