Tafoukt Space for Creativity Organizes the Fifth Edition of the Casablanca Festival of Amazigh Theater
The Tafoukt Creativity Space is preparing to organize the fifth edition of the Casablanca Festival of Amazigh Theater under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in partnership, cooperation and coordination with a group of partners: The Casablanca-Settat region, and the Casablanca City Council, on Wednesday 7 September 2022.
This event, which adorns the theaters of the largest Moroccan city with the opening of the provinces of the Casablanca-Settat region, will be held from Wednesday 07 to 11 September 2022. And video, television and cinema in Amazigh and Moroccan Arabic, and at the conclusion of the session on Sunday 11 September 2022 at the Ibn Amsik Theater, the multi-talented artist Omar El-Sayed will always be honored for his overall artwork, and a film about his life and artistic path will be shown, “The Journey of a Man and the Path of an Artist”, directed by Khaled Badri.
The audience will attend a meeting with a number of theatrical performances that will be shown for the first time on the stages of the new cities, Settat, and Casablanca. Opportunities for cross-fertilization and the friction of experiences with each other, which will inevitably lead to the diversity of the show and the development of Moroccan theatrical experiences in various tongues, based on the slogan of this session “Berber culture, authenticity and renewal” as an authentic, inclusive and cultural heritage for all Moroccans.
The festival will oversee the competition for the National Prize for Amazigh Culture - the theater category, in the south, in partnership with the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture for the year 2021, so that the jury consists of professors and researchers, Dr. . This year’s festival will witness the presentation of various theatrical performances inside and outside the competition, as honorary performances in various languages, coming from several cities in the Kingdom. El Jadida, the Sidi Belyout Cultural Complex, the Hassan II Youth Educational Complex, the Settat City Cultural Complex, and the Moulay Rachid Cultural Complex.
The fifth session is also full of important parallel activities, including a specialized symposium on the theme “The Question of Language in the Amazigh Theatre” with the participation of the intervening professors, Dr. Nawal Benbrahim, Professor Al-Hussein Al-Shaabi and Dr. Ezzedine Al-Kharrat, and moderated by journalist Ossi Moh Lahcen, and a signing ceremony will be held for the latest publications of Dr. Ahmed Amal “A wound in a man’s organ” in honor and celebration with a reading in the book presented by Professor Bousarhan Zitouni and a speech in honor of the celebrant presented by Dr. Fouad Azroual. In Amazigh” framed by the professor of the Higher Institute of Cultural Revitalization and Dramatic Art, Dr. Issam Al-Youssoufi, and the second is on the topic of “Berber intangible heritage” by the research professor at the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, Dr. Mubarak Ait Adi, and the third is on the topic of “The Amazigh Tale” by the research professor.At the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture, Dr. Youssef Tawfik, and the fourth is on the topic of “Writing in the Amazigh script / Tifinagh” under the supervision of the research professor at the Royal Institute for Amazigh Culture, Dr. Hussein Al-Ghalb, so that elite of both genders in Amazigh literature, graduates and Amazigh masters students representing Moroccan universities will benefit from these workshops. The various regions of the country with the aim of composing a group of texts and printing them in a special book as a culmination of the productions of the theater writing workshop in Tamazight, and in parallel with that in coordination with the Moroccan Federation of Professional Theater Troupes. Interventions will be presented by Professor Hassan Hammouch, Professor Hussein Chaabi and Professor Bousarhan Zitouni, and will be moderated by Professor Abdelilah Benhadar.On the other hand, the corridors of the festival will witness a traveling exhibition of Amazigh books of interest to the publications of the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture.
