Algeria trip: foreign tourists in Béjaia
Compared to its Maghreb neighbors, Algeria is still lagging behind in terms of tourism. This huge country is increasingly arousing the curiosity of foreign visitors.
Algeria served as a stopover last September for the luxury cruise ship Silver Cloud , with more than 200 American tourists on board who disembarked in Oran. This experience is repeated this time with another cruise ship, the Amadea, which has docked in recent days at the port of Béjaïa, in Kabylie.
The ship first stopped in Algiers, before dropping anchor in the capital of the Hammadites, indicates the Facebook page Port de Béjaïa. The same source specifies that on board the cruise ship, boarded more than 400 tourists of various nationalities, mostly Germans and Austrians.
On social networks, pages have shared photos of German tourists enjoying the historical and natural treasures of the city of Béjaïa, but also the history and architecture of Seddouk Oufella, a village perched on the heights of small Kabylie .
Foreign tourists discovering Béjaïa
In the town of Béjaïa, very close to the port where they landed, photos show tourists getting to know the stele bearing the effigy of the father of modern sociology, Ibn Khaldoun, who spent an important period of his life on square.
Tourists then discover the historical sites of the city and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.
We also see another group who have chosen to get away from the noise of the city to enjoy the fresh air of the heights.
Several German tourists were able to discover this village and its historical museum, which recounts the resistance against the French occupation, led by Sheikh Aheddad at the end of the 19th century.
This village is also of an extraordinary architectural richness. Western visitors were able to soak up the ingenious simplicity with which the Amazigh houses were built and enjoy, when passing through the steep streets, this game of shadows and lights typical of vernacular constructions.
Travel Algeria: German tourists taste local food
In addition to its architecture, this village has undoubtedly charmed German tourists with its culinary richness. Indeed, in some photos, visitors can be seen tasting dried figs, an emblematic fruit that this region of Algeria produces in remarkable quality.
A lunch was then organized in honor of foreign travellers. We see them around a table where they were able to test the specialties of Kabyle cuisine, in particular the various couscous dishes, the semolina pancake, but also green and black olives and of course olive oil. .
