After 3 years of hiatus, the Tiznit Silver Festival returns with distinguished programming
After 3 years of hiatus, the city of Tiznit returned to organizing the “Timizar” Silver Festival, under the slogan “Silversmithing... Identity, Creativity and Development.”
The festival, whose activities began from Wednesday, August 23, 2023 until the 28th, was organized on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the King and the People’s Revolution, and the sixtieth anniversary of the Glorious Youth Day.
The festival, organized by the Timisar Association and in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Souss-Massa region, the Regional Council, and the Tiznit Community Council, aims to revive the material and intangible heritage of Tiznit by encouraging the traditional craftsman and enabling him with new opportunities for display and marketing. .
The festival also aims to encourage local handicrafts, especially silversmithing, which is considered a cultural, historical and civilizational heritage, a symbol of aesthetic values and creativity in the region, and a developmental tributary that contributes to achieving local economic development.
The program of this session included organizing an exhibition of silver jewelry and other handicrafts that abound in the city and the region. , in the historical Al-Mashwar Square, with the participation of more than 50 exhibitors from inside and outside Morocco, in addition to workshops that contribute to introducing the techniques used in silversmithing.
In parallel, an exhibition of local products and handicrafts was held in Prince Moulay Abdallah Park Square, which includes a number of exhibits of ceramics, carpets, and leather goods.
As for the artistic side of the festival, it witnessed the revival of artistic evenings with the participation of the most prominent Moroccan artists, in addition to performances in traditional equestrianism, a display of local fashion and ornaments, and an intellectual symposium on the silver heritage in Tiznit.
