Before Vizier Masoud bin Masai left to fight Al-Hasan bin Al-Nasser, he appointed his brother Yaish bin Abdul Rahman bin Masai as successor to the king’s palace, and when he arrived at Kutama Palace, he received the news of the death of Sultan Musa.
Sultan Musa died of poisoning on the third Friday of Ramadan in the year 788 AH. He was 31 years old. Ibn Khaldun mentions that Sultan Musa bin Abi Annan: “He was struck by illness, and he died day and night for three years of his caliphate, and people used to accuse the vizier’s brother, Aish, of poisoning him.” Ibn Al-Qadi said in Al-Jadwa: “Sultan Musa bin Abi Anan died of poisoning on the third Friday of the month of Ramadan in the year seven hundred and eighty-eight. He was thirty-one years old, so his rule lasted two years and four months, and Muhammad bin Ahmed bin Abi Salem succeeded him.”
