A Spanish university delegation visits Egypt as part of a study program entitled “In the Footsteps of Herodotus” 1-603
Members of the Spanish University Delegation (Tahina-Can) will visit the Spanish Embassy in Cairo, tomorrow, Thursday, September 9, as part of their study program in Egypt, which extends from September 2 to 13.
The current session is titled “Egypt 2021: In the Footsteps of Herodotus,” and includes visiting Cairo’s landmarks, especially Naguib Mahfouz Neighborhood, in addition to the landmarks of Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Esna, Luxor, the Western Bank, Saqqara, Dahshur, Meidum, Fayoum, and Wadi El Rayan. Mount Mudawara, Wadi Al-Hitan, Sinai Peninsula, and St. Catherine Monastery.
During the session, the mission organizes several activities, including a program of discussions and seminars on issues related to the current reality in Egypt, interviews with media professionals, Preparing media reports and other types of journalistic programmes.
The main goal of the project focuses on promoting basic values, in the context of training 40 Spanish university youth, male and female, belonging to various academic divisions in Spanish universities, such as (effort - teamwork - cooperation - cultural interaction - solidarity - entrepreneurship - organization). projects)
The Tahina-Can program also combines tourism and adventure activities, as well as an educational project, being coordinated by a group of expert professors in travel journalism, such as: Santiago Tejedor, Luis Pastor, and Xavier Ortuño, in partnership with Egyptologist David Rolle.
It is noteworthy that the organization of the program has been supervised since 2004 by the Office of Communications and Education of the Department of Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. As it is linked to the academic program granting the “Master’s Degree in Travel Journalism”.

The Tahina-Can Mission Program courses are held annually, and include tours in various countries of the world and a study of the cultural and media background of the country they are visiting.
In previous courses of the program, students visited countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the tropical Amazon region, Chile, Morocco, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Colombia.
